Number of users of National’s Computer project passed 20 thousand people

On December 20, a press conference dedicated to the “People’s Computer” project was held in JW Marriott Absheron Baku Hotel.  

The project is carried out jointly with Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Education, HP and Microsoft Azerbaijan. The project operator is BestComp Group.

The main objective of the project is  to  create  conditions  for  different  social strata of  people  to  get modern computers and licensed software, to remove “numerical difference” through an extensive  application  of  ICT  in the regions and to support  the activities of the  Azerbaijani  government  directed  to the  development  of  information  society and  “electronic government”.

Within  the  framework  of  “People’s Computer”  project, English teachers, pupils  of  secondary schools  of Azerbaijan, high school  students   and  staff  of the  education sector  got an opportunity  to  obtain  a  computer  with preferential terms.

Computers and laptops presented in the project have licensed software and offered with interest-free 12 months loan for the prices that are 24-40% lower than market prices.

Head of Information Society Development Department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies Ispandiyar Aliyev, Head  of  Education Management  Information System  (EMIS) Department  Ismayil Sadigov,  Head  of  Azerbaijan  representation of  Microsoft Rufat Hajialibeyov, Head  of  HP Azerbaijan for Personal and Printing Systems group in the country  Rasim Bakhshi and Chief manager of  BestComp Group Rauf Hasanov   participated  in the  conference.

During the press conference the results of “National Computer” project for 2012 were presented.  

More than 20 thousand persons acquired personal computer and laptops within the  “National Computer” project.  

A resident of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Jafarov Ruslan Faramaz was the 20000th buyer of computer within the project.  A portable computer was presented to the   jubilee buyer at no charge. Also, the gifts were given to 19999th and 20001th buyers of personal computer.

Since  the beginning  of  project ( April 2009) up today,  generally more than 13 million funds   were invested  in the  project and  its  3 million  were carried  out  in  2012.

15%  of computers  were  obtained  by the  users  living  in Baku, 13.3% by the  users living  in  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the  rest by the  users  in other  regions  of the country.  More than 90 percent of computers obtained under the project, fall to the share of portable technique.

Users at their own request are able to get additional DrWEB anti-virus software, ADSL modems and DATA-card of Azercell mobile communications operator.
